The Resurrection Project
In 2014, The Resurrection Project (TRP) launched its Immigrant Justice department and strategy, marking a pivotal step in advancing immigrant rights in Illinois. Since then, TRP’s Immigrant Justice team has been at the forefront of strengthening the state’s immigrant justice ecosystem. From championing pro-immigrant campaigns to expanding empowerment programs and delivering direct legal services, TRP has become a vital force in building a more equitable future for immigrant communities.
Some highlights throughout the years include:
Winning, creating, and administering the Chicago Legal Protection Fund (2017)
Winning, creating, and co-administering the Illinois Access to Justice (ILA2J) program (2020)
Winning and establishing the first ever Immigration Unit within the Cook County Public Defender’s office (2021)
Establishing the Chicago Resiliency Fund
Spearheading centralized workshops to help newly arrived immigrants apply for their Employment Authorization Document (EAD) or Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
Creating the nationally recognized Community Navigator Program
Creating the award winning Colibri Fellowship
